George dayton bought the Goodfellow’s Dry Goods building, he then changed the name to Dayton’s Dry Goods. It was marking the start of Target. He was the first president of target, while it was still named The Dayton company. Later after george died, his son became president of the dayton company. While George Dayton was the president of Target, the stores were called Dayton's and the Dayton company.
